How to Get Elected in America is a feature length documentary on Mark Takano’s history-making 2012 campaign when he became the first openly gay, person of color in the US Congress. The film explores how a Japanese gay man with a degree from Harvard could connect to voters in the majority Latino 41st District. We follow Mark from the beginning of the campaign trail all the way through to his new seat in Washington, DC.
